Residential

Oaklea Cottage,  Llangennith, Gower,  Swansea. 2011

A new commission for 2011; a loving family from Llangennith approached the practice to seek help with their problem of the ever need for space.  The family currently live in a gorgeous little cottage built from breathable materials; stone + lime walls, single glazed sash windows, slate roof and quarry tiles laid on ash. The oldest ways always seem to be the best!

The solution was to retain the cottage in its current form and to create a modern addition of a two storey cube to the rear of the property which is both sustainable and built with breathable materials, not only making the most of the south facing solar gain with large amounts of fenestration but also to take in the most amazing views looking down towards the sea and beach of Llangennith.
